But even then, he knew he had to create an identity for himself that would make him stand out in the group. “When I was 17, you definitely had to come up with a name to be part of a band like Groundhogs,” the MC recalls.
Flo Rida, who went by a different name in those days, says that a friend insisted that he find a new nickname for himself.
“I was going by the name Ruckus Pimp at first,” Flo recalls. “I thought it was a bit like the outside, so I went to my son’s house. He said, ‘Dude, we have to come up with a name today.'”
