Whether you’re a professional filmmaker or someone who just likes to shoot video, at some point in your career, you’ll probably need to stabilize shaky video footage. If you’ve ever tried to edit shaky footage, you know it can be a real pain.
It’s hard to tell where the camera is pointing and it takes a lot of time to get rid of all the rough edges. The only way to solve this problem is through stabilization. The great thing about DaVinci Resolve 17 is that it has a built-in stabilization tool that allows you to easily stabilize your footage.
Step 1: Add the video to the timeline in the “Edit” tab
The first step is to add your video file to the timeline. To do this, simply drag and drop your video file from Finder onto the timeline in the “Edit” tab.
Step 2: Go to the “Stabilization” setting
The first step is to go to the “Stabilize” setting. This is located in the Effects tab of DaVinci Resolve 17. The stabilization settings are used to remove the camera shake from your footage. This can be done by using a tripod or by turning off image stabilization on your camera. If you don’t have access to either of these options, then this is the best way to stabilize shaky video footage.
The second step is to adjust your “Motion Blur” setting. This will help reduce any blurriness that may occur while stabilizing your video footage. You can adjust this setting by clicking on the drop-down menu and choosing “High” or “Medium” motion blur strength as needed.
The third step is to choose a “Smoothing Radius” setting based on how much correction you want for your video footage. The higher the smoothing radius number, the more correction will be applied to your shaky video footage, and vice versa for lower smoothing radii numbers like 10 or 15 which apply less correction than higher numbers like 20 or 25 which apply more correction than lower smoothing radius.
Step 3: Trial and error
To stabilize your video, you have to choose the right settings and hit the stabilize button. If this option does not work, you should check your image quality and try again and again.
