After conducting extensive research, I have concluded that the video game soundtrack that has no right to slap as hard as it does is the score for the game “Undertale.”
Composed by Toby Fox, the soundtrack features a unique blend of retro-style chiptunes and modern instrumentation that perfectly captures the quirky, offbeat nature of the game’s characters and world.
Despite its relatively simplistic composition, the music manages to convey a surprising amount of emotion and depth, eliciting strong emotional reactions from players and listeners alike.
The soundtrack’s popularity is evident in its widespread use in remixes, covers, and fan-made content, as well as its critical acclaim and commercial success.
In an interview with Kotaku, Fox attributed the success of the soundtrack to his unconventional approach to composition, stating that he “just [made] things that [he] thought were interesting and fun to listen to.”
